Fear can keep a person or community in a state of striving, causing us to grasp onto what we already have, to operate with a sense of scarcity, and it often makes us unwilling to take risks or explore new options. Fear closes our will. On the other hand, cultivating an Open Will leaves behind the binary between strong and weak individuality and centers us in the Spirit. Such centeredness creates a spaciousness for things to change without threat to our ego.
