Filled with the Spirit in his baptism, Jesus is driven into the wilderness to face temptations to rely on his own strength, attaint his own power, and give his allegiance elsewhere. Just as he resists by relying on scripture and faith, we too are given strength through our baptism to lean on God and resist that which would separate us from Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
